Boyer was the lead stylist on the original 1955 two-seater Thunderbird and also had input in the following series of Thunderbirds that included the 30th Anniversary Edition. The Thunderbird was similar in concept but was more American in style, more luxurious, and less sport-oriented.Ĭredit for the development of the original Thunderbird is given to Lewis Crusoe, a former GM executive lured out of retirement by Henry Ford II George Walker, chief stylist and a Ford vice president Frank Hershey, chief stylist for the Ford Division Bill Boyer, designer for the Body Development Studio, who became the manager of the Thunderbird Studio in the spring of 1955 and Bill Burnett, chief engineer. The completed one-off generated interest at the time, but had meager power, European looks, and a correspondingly high cost, so it never proceeded to production. Development Ī smaller two-seater sports roadster, named the Vega, was developed in 1953 at the behest of Henry Ford II. Thunderbird production ended in 1997, then briefly resumed as a two-passenger, marketed from 2002 to 2005.įrom its introduction in 1955 to its final phaseout in 2005, Ford produced over 4.4 million Thunderbirds. Sales were good until the 1990s when large two-door coupes became unpopular. Succeeding generations became larger until the line was downsized in 1977, again in 1980, and once again in 1983. For 1958, the Thunderbird was redesigned with a second row of seats. Ford positioned the Thunderbird as an upscale model and it is credited in developing a new market segment, the personal luxury car. Unlike the Chevrolet Corvette, it was not marketed as a sports car. The Thunderbird entered production for the 1955 model year as a sporty two-seat convertible. Introduced as a two-seat convertible, the Thunderbird was offered variously as a four-seat hardtop coupe, four-seat convertible, five-seat convertible and hardtop, four-door pillared hardtop sedan, six-passenger hardtop coupe, and five-passenger pillared coupe, with the final generation designed again as a two-seat convertible.įord targeted the two-seat Thunderbird as an upscale model, but the 1958 model year design introduced a rear seat and arguably marked the expansion of a market segment eventually known as personal luxury cars, positioned to emphasize comfort and convenience over handling and high-speed performance. ![]() The Ford Thunderbird (colloquially called the T-Bird) is a personal luxury car manufactured and marketed by Ford from model years 1955 to 2005 (with a 1997–2002 hiatus), across 11 generations. For those who are unsure of the exact location of the fuses in the Thunderbird's fuse box, consulting a professional mechanic or an experienced technician may be the best option. Knowing where the fuses are located in the 1956 Ford Thunderbird is key to troubleshooting any electrical problems. It's also important to understand the correct amperage of each fuse if too much or too little current flows through a fuse, it can cause major damage to the Thunderbird's electrical system. For instance, the power distribution fuses are much larger than those in modern cars and require special tools to remove and replace them. It's important to note that the fuse box in the 1956 Ford Thunderbird is quite different from those in modern cars. ![]() The fuses are also color-coded for easy identification. The main power distribution fuses are located at the top of the box, followed by the other fuses in descending order. The fuses in the Thunderbird's fuse box are labeled according to their purpose and are arranged in order of importance. ![]() This box contains all the fuses necessary for the Thunderbird's electrical system to work properly. In the case of the 1956 Ford Thunderbird, the fuse box is located under the hood on the left side of the firewall. When dealing with the electrical system of a classic car, it's important to understand how the fuse box works. For those who are looking to repair or maintain their 1956 Thunderbird, it can be difficult to locate the right fuses. But while the Thunderbird was a powerhouse on the road, its electrical systems were just as complex. With its sleek design, powerful engine, and advanced technology, it's no wonder why the Thunderbird is still cherished by classic car enthusiasts today. ![]() ![]() I am not planning on making super realistic human sculpts, only stylised characters for my game. So my main question is, *how* do people study anatomy? And how much/what do i need to know just to create a few game characters. I get that it is important to know the difference between male-female structure and how the body proportions should be, but i am only going to sculpt from reference so if i need to know how the legs should go then i will look up reference and sculpt that, or is this wrong?. Do i need to sculpt these images? Or is this book just for reference for when i need it? I got this book 'Anatomy for Sculptors' but how do i actually use it to learn and get better at sculpting? The book mostly consists of images and doesn't have much text or any tips on using it for sculpting. I've looked this up a lot but i don't get *how* i am supposed to learn anatomy. I want to sculpt Final Fantasy style characters or manga like and i am planning on creating these solely from reference, but i often read about how important it is to 'learn' anatomy. I am a solo game dev and am learning ZBrush so that i can create characters for my game. ![]() I will be posting some experiments here after I get home from work, everyone else is welcome to follow along, post, discuss and all else.Hi, i'm new to learning ZBrush and sculpting in general, i've used Blender before and am fairly profficient in using it for hardsurface stuff. So what is it that defines our body types then? This is the question that will be analyzed in depth in this thread. ![]() But thus we have body types, right? This leads to the observation that when basing your models strictly on the 7 1/2 proportion model, you will not get 100% realistic results. For example if you take two human beings of the same height and ask them to stand next to each other you will notice that their knees, crotch and elbows may not be on the same line relative to each person. In my opinion this is due to the subtle details that make a big difference. The academic “7 1/2” definition is only an approximation of the relative human body proportion and works for game characters fine, but when I look at game models, often, there is a feeling of the model not looking “right” or correct. Doing some research and analyzing the real photographs of human bodies one may notice that while it’s true that humans are relatively 7 1/2 of their heads tall, what’s in between starting from the top of the head to the heels does not have strict definition. Generally speaking the human body is 7 and 1/2 heads in height and often many of other body parts are derived from their proportion to the head. I want to talk about things I’ve noticed, and I want to see others collaborate and tell us all what methods you use when you work on realistic human body models in ZBrush (or even Maya or 3DSMAX, as the software is irrelevant to this topic.) I’m starting this thread as an exploration of the human body proportion. ![]() ![]() ![]() In Shine Runners, the player must collect Shine Sprites from Super Mario Sunshine. ![]() ![]() ![]() To summarize the whole thing, we can make the following conclusions.Īn ion consists of the electrons in its numerous shells and the nucleus. Across a period, the effective nuclear charge increases as nuclear charge increases. The effective nuclear charge decreases down the group due to increased shielding effect. It can also be used to explain how many nuclei can control the outer electrons. It can be defined as the repelling of an outer electron by the inner electrons. The reason being they have a full valence shell and thus can neither gain nor lose electrons. Fluorine has the highest electronegativity and noble gasses are not included in this. Across a period, the electron affinity increases as nuclear charge increases.ĭown the group, it decreases, as the nuclear charge decreases. This is a characteristic feature of nonmetals as they gain electrons to become anions. Electron AffinityĮlectron affinity can be defined as the tendency of an atom to accept an electron or an electron pair. ![]() Also, in group 14, the electronegativity of tin is higher than lead. The group 13 elements are an exception and thus the electronegativity increases from aluminum to thallium. But the atomic radii also increase diagonally causing some exceptions.Īlong the Period – Li> Be > B > C > N > O > F The reason being, new shells are being added and thus the nuclear charge decreases. In a group, the atomic radius increases down the group. The reason for the decrease is as nuclear charge increases, the force of attraction between the nucleus and the valence electrons also increases, and the nucleus holds the electron tightly, thereby decreasing the atomic radii. Across a period the atomic radius decreases, as the nuclear charge increases. The atomic radius is the distance between the atomic nucleus and outermost stable electron orbital of an atom which is at equilibrium. This causes the force of attraction between the valence electrons and the nuclei increases, thereby inhibiting them from conducting electricity or heat. Since the valence electron is loosely bounded by the nuclei, they are able to conduct electricity well.īut across a period, the metallic character decreases as nuclear charge increases. The metallic properties increase down the group as the nuclear charge decreases down the group. Metallic property of an element can be defined as their ability to conduct electricity. They require a little less energy than the usual trend. Pseudo filled or half-filled valence shells have high ionization energy.Ī simple principle that can be used is that, if the principal quantum number is low, then the ionization number will be high for the electron present in that shell.Īll the elements in the oxygen and boron family are an exception to the above stated periodic trend. Thus, with an increase in atomic radius the ionization decreases. Shielding effect increases as nuclear charge increases, thus with an increase in shielding effect the ionization energy also increases.Īs the atomic radius increases the force of attraction between the nucleus and valence electrons also decreases. Lower the nuclear charge lower is the force of attraction between the nucleus and valence electrons, thus low ionization energy. Various Factors that Affect the Ionization Energy Levels The reason behind this is, down the group the valence electrons go farther away from the nucleus, thus the nuclear charge decreases. The reason behind this is that the nuclear charge across the period increases and thus the electrons are strongly held by the nucleus.īut as one goes down the group, the ionization energy decreases down the group. “Minimum energy required by an isolated atom to remove one electron in its neutral or gaseous state”Īs one goes across the period, the ionization energy increases. The ionization potential can be defined as, Later it was also found that the recurrence of properties was due to the recurrence of similar electronic configurations in the outer shells of atoms. He also stated that the periodic table was not just based on the atomic weights, but also based on various physical and chemical properties of elements. This principle was given by Dmitri Mendeleev. Elements having similar chemical properties re-occur in regular intervals” According to periodic law, “the chemical elements are listed in an order of increasing atomic number, and main properties thus undergo cyclic changes. Periodic law forms the basis for periodic trends. A few exceptions exist, for example, the ionization energy of groups 3 and 6. These trends arise due to changes in the structure of atoms of the elements within their groups and periods. The specific patterns in the properties of chemical elements present in the periodic table are known as periodic trends. ![]() ![]() ![]() Back on land, walkers can mosey across the sandy crescent of Playa de Trengandin, a 3.7-mile idyllic gold beach.
